School officials, staff embrace Ice Bucket Challenge

A decidedly cold and wet — but obviously happy — staff at Pocopson Elementary School took the ALS Ice Bucket challenge en masse, Thursday.

If you’ve seen no few numbers of Unionville-Chadds Ford School District staff looking just a bit cold and damp, it may be because so many have stood up to accept the Ice Bucket Challenge as part of an effort to fund research into ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

Starting with Superintendent of Schools John Sanville, this past weekend, to Board of Education President Victor Dupuis Monday and many staff members at Pocopson Elementary School, Thursday, the challenge has been, as it were, warmly embraced throughout the community.

For the Pocopson staff, the event was more than just doing good, it was personal — as one of the staff members lost a parent to ALS. The teachers and staff have now issue challenges to PES parents and students to follow suit.
